Terms of service

The rules for using EIRIS, including what your campaign and its agents may and may not use it for.

Last updated 6 October 2026

Draft for review. Not yet legal advice. This document is being reviewed by counsel before EIRIS is used in a live election. Your signed agreement with EIRIS takes precedence over this page.

01These terms

These terms apply to the eiris.ng website and to the EIRIS service. If your organisation has signed an agreement with EIRIS, that agreement takes precedence over these terms where they differ.

02What EIRIS provides

EIRIS provides software for running an election-day Situation Room: an app for polling-unit agents, a dashboard for coordinators, tools to check result-sheet figures against their photos, and incident tracking. EIRIS shows, records and compares information that your team submits.

Figures in EIRIS are what your agents reported. They are not official results. EIRIS does not declare results, determine whether anything was unlawful, or predict who will win.

03Accounts and your team

Your organisation's administrator creates accounts and decides what each person can see and do. You are responsible for the people you invite, for keeping sign-in details secure, and for removing access when someone leaves your team.

04Acceptable use

You must use EIRIS lawfully and in line with the Electoral Act and INEC regulations. In particular, you must not use EIRIS to:

  • intimidate, harass or endanger voters, officials, observers or anyone else;
  • buy votes, induce voters or interfere with the secrecy of the ballot;
  • profile, track or target voters or infer their political preferences;
  • submit, alter or circulate material you know to be false, including fabricated result sheets;
  • deploy anyone at a polling unit who is not lawfully entitled to be there;
  • try to access another organisation's data or weaken the security of the service.

We may suspend access where we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.

05Your data and evidence

Your organisation owns the data and evidence it puts into EIRIS. We use it only to provide the service to you. You can export it at any time during your agreement and for a reasonable period after it ends.

Evidence is stored as captured. Reviews, corrections and AI readings are kept as separate records so the original is never overwritten.

06AI features

Where AI features are switched on, they produce summaries and readings that are always labelled as derived. A person in your team makes every decision. AI output can be wrong; do not rely on it without checking the records it links to.

07Availability and support

We work to keep EIRIS available, especially on election days, and agents can keep reporting without network. Planned maintenance will be scheduled away from elections your organisation has told us about. Service levels, if any, are set out in your agreement.

08Responsibility and liability

EIRIS is a tool that supports your team's work. Decisions about campaigns, complaints, petitions and public statements are yours. To the extent the law allows, EIRIS is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amounts set out in your agreement.

09Changes and law

We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new date. Significant changes will be notified to organisations with an active agreement. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
